The 100 scarcest PSA 10s in Pokemon — what the curated list reveals
Our hand-curated scarcity page now ranks the 100 scarcest PSA 10 Pokemon cards. Three patterns stand out.
1. Trophy cards dominate the top
The first ~30 entries are nearly all 1990s and 2000s tournament trophy cards: Pikachu Illustrator, the No.1/No.2 Trainer Trophy Pikachus, Tropical Mega Battle prizes, Snap photo contest winners, the World Championships Bronze/Silver/Gold Trophy series 2008–2016. These exist in single-digit PSA 10 populations because they were produced in tiny quantities to begin with, then most copies never crossed a grader's desk.
2. Crystal-type subset is the modern-vintage sleeper
Aquapolis + Skyridge Crystal cards (Charizard, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Nidoking, Kingdra, Kabutops, Celebi, Gengar) cluster in the 14–30 PSA 10 range. These were notoriously hard to gem-mint because the holographic foil scratched easily and centering was awful. They have growing collector demand but the supply does not respond.
3. 1st Ed Shadowless Big 3 are not as rare as people think
The 1st Ed Holo Charizard sits at ~121 PSA 10. Blastoise ~200, Venusaur ~250. Shadowless (non-1st-Ed) Charizard ~486. These are iconic but well above the trophy + Crystal tiers in absolute pop. Their value derives from name recognition + the WOTC narrative — not absolute scarcity.
Methodology
The list is hand-curated from primary sources (PSA-documented sales, 2026 PokemonPriceTracker pop report, Goldin auction context, collector references). Every entry below HIGH confidence carries a "verify via PSA cert lookup" note. PSA blocks direct scraping, so bulk pop ingestion via the Apify lulzasaur/psa-pop-scraper is the planned ongoing-update path.
